In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 12th, full-time students at Fei Tian performed in three groups for after-school students, staff, and fellow students. Two groups performed dances based on stories while the third performed a humorous skit portraying the students' real-life adventures.
One of the two dances featured a folk tale about the moon, a fitting selection for the holiday. The story tells of a kind husband and wife who encounter an immortal. The immortal gives them an elixer that will grant them immortality. The day they decide to drink it, however, disaster arrives on their village. The wife becomes afraid and drinks her half, but then in her fear spills the other half. Her husband, though upset, is able to return and save the village from the disaster. The wife, though bound to leave the earth as an immortal, decides to live on the moon so as to be closer to her husband.
The other dance tells of a group of Taoist cultivators. They must find the resolve to focus their efforts in true cultivation, improving themselves in spite of the demons that might tempt them. Some cultivators have more trouble than others, but in the end, the Taoist master is able to select his successor.
Following the performances, all of which were greatly enjoyed by the audience, the students, teachers, and after-school students enjoyed holiday treats, including plenty of moon cakes for everyone.
